Homeline Coatings Blog:
Why You Should Protect Surfaces in Your Home
Our homes are full of high-use surfaces, such as stone countertops, porcelain sinks, large bathroom mirrors, and stainless steel appliances. These surfaces are subject to significant wear and tear, since we use them so heavily in our daily lives, and can be difficult to keep consistently clean.
Treating surfaces with a specialized protectant coating can help you keep them looking good as new for years to come!

Homeline Coatings Ceramic Protectant can be used to treat the following surfaces:

  • Countertops
  • Stainless steel
  • Glass
  • Windows
  • Ceramic sinks
  • Tile walls (e.g., shower walls or kitchen backsplash)

Do NOT use Homeline Coatings Ceramic Protectant to treat the following surfaces:

  • Floors of any kind (including tubs and shower floors)
  • Unsealed wood
  • Glassware
  • Plates
  • Cookware
  • Utensils
  • Dog bowls

Homeline Coatings surface treatments can be applied in a matter of minutes, and take only an hour to cure before your surface is ready to use again. It’s as simple as spray, buff, and protect!

Every Homeline Coatings Ceramic Protectant + Primer Bundle comes with the following items:

Follow these steps to protect your surfaces with Homeline Coatings Ceramic Protectant:

Step 1: Prep your space

Since curing takes an hour, make sure you are able to avoid using the surface while it cures. If you have kids (or perhaps pets who like to jump onto the counter 😉), we suggest blocking off the area for the duration of the curing process, to preserve the integrity of the treatment and keep the little ones safe.

Homeline’s Ceramic Protectant can be used to treat a variety of surfaces around the home including stone countertops, porcelain sinks, glass, stainless steel, and finished wood (e.g., butcher block countertops). However, you’ll want to avoid getting product on the floor, or any surfaces you eat or drink from (e.g., dishes or cookware), so you may want to lay a towel on the floor and put away cooking utensils before applying.

Step 2: Prime the surface

Spray an even mist of the Primer prep spray over the surface you plan to treat, and wipe with one of the microfiber cloths until the surface is clean. Set spray and cloth aside.

Homeline Coating’s Primer prep spray not only cleans the surface before treatment, but also helps ensure a strong bond between the surface and the coating. However, if you don’t have our Primer spray, that’s ok too just be sure to clean your surface before treating!

Step 2: Apply the coating

Spray an even mist of Ceramic Protectant over the freshly-primed surface, and buff it into the surface with one side of the second microfiber cloth. Once the coating is thoroughly buffed in, flip the microfiber cloth over to the dry side, and wipe the surface to remove any remaining residue.

Step 4: Wait

Wait one hour to let the coating set before using the surface.

Step 5: Clean easy!

The hydrophobic qualities in our Ceramic Protectant repel water, making your surfaces easier to clean day to day.

Step 6: Repeat...eventually

A treatment can last up to 6 months; however, for high-use areas such as kitchen counters and bathroom sinks, you can treat up to twice a month.

To keep your countertops clean between applications, our Swift Maintenance and Cleaning spray is an easy to use daily cleaner that helps preserve the longevity of each treatment.

With your Homeline Coatings Ceramic Protectant, you can easily keep your home fresh and clean, and preserve your surfaces for years to come! If you haven’t tried Homeline Coatings in your own home yet, we recommend starting with the Home Makeover Kit.
