Why You Should Invest in a Countertop Sealer
If you have stone, concrete, or butcher block countertops, you’ve probably heard that it’s important to seal them regularly. But all too often, life gets in the way, and it’s one of those things that becomes easier to put off until next week, next month, or even next year.
However, we’re here to gently remind you that staying on top of treating your countertops pays off! Not only does regular curing extend the lifespan of your surfaces, but doing so will make them easier to keep clean day to day. Also, it doesn’t have to be time-consuming or difficult to get it done. That's why getting the right countertop sealer can do wonders for your kitchen counters.
Homeline Coatings surface treatments can be applied in a matter of minutes, and can take only an hour to cure before your surface is ready to use again. It’s as simple as spray, buff, and protect!
Every Homeline Coatings Ceramic Protectant + Primer Bundle comes with the following items:
- One 4-oz. bottle of Primer prep spray
- One 8-oz. bottle of Ceramic Protectant spray
- Two microfiber cloths (designate one microfiber cloth to each spray to keep them from mixing)
Follow these steps to protect your surfaces with Homeline Coatings Ceramic Protectant:
Step 1: Prep your space
Since curing takes an hour, make sure you are able to avoid using the surface while it cures. If you have kids (or perhaps pets who like to jump onto the counter 😉), we suggest blocking off the area for the duration of the curing process, to preserve the integrity of the treatment and keep the little ones safe.
Homeline’s Ceramic Protectant can be used to treat a variety of surfaces around the home including stone countertops, porcelain sinks, glass, stainless steel, and finished wood (e.g., butcher block countertops). However, you’ll want to avoid getting product on the floor, or any surfaces you eat or drink from (e.g., dishes or cookware), so you may want to lay a towel on the floor and put away cooking utensils before applying.
Step 2: Prime the surface
Spray an even mist of the Primer prep spray over the surface you plan to treat, and wipe with one of the microfiber cloths until the surface is clean. Set spray and cloth aside.
Homeline Coating’s Primer prep spray not only cleans the surface before treatment, but also helps ensure a strong bond between the surface and the coating. However, if you don’t have our Primer spray, that’s ok too just be sure to clean your surface before treating!
Step 2: Apply the coating
Spray an even mist of Ceramic Protectant over the freshly-primed surface, and buff it into the surface with one side of the second microfiber cloth. Once the coating is thoroughly buffed in, flip the microfiber cloth over to the dry side, and wipe the surface to remove any remaining residue.
Step 4: Wait
Wait one hour to let the coating set before using the surface.
Step 5: Clean easy!
The hydrophobic qualities in our Ceramic Protectant repel water, making your surfaces easier to clean day to day.
Step 6: Repeat...eventually
A treatment can last up to 6 months; however, for high-use areas such as kitchen counters and bathroom sinks, you can treat up to twice a month.
To keep your countertops clean between applications, our Swift Maintenance and Cleaning spray is an easy to use daily cleaner that helps preserve the longevity of each treatment.
With your Homeline Coatings Ceramic Protectant, you can easily keep your home fresh and clean, and preserve your surfaces for years to come! If you haven’t tried Homeline Coatings in your own home yet, we recommend starting with the Home Makeover Kit.
